McCLOSKEY PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION

Ron McCloskeyRonald McCloskey was born and raised in Ottawa, obtaining his undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Arts) from St. Patrick’s College (1971) and his LL.B from the University of Ottawa (1974), being called to the bar in 1976.

He immediately went into association with his brother Kenneth McCloskey (now retired) and with the late Albert Bourassa, Q.C. Ronald was formerly a member of the Bar of Alberta and practiced in both Vegreville and Lethbridge, Alberta in the early 1980’s.

In his spare time, he does freelance writing. He was the founding editor of Gilbert! The Magazine of G.K. Chesterton (https://www.chesterton.org/item-category/gilbert-magazine/) and has been published in various Chestertonian and other journals. His writing, alas, stands as a living monument to Chesterton’s aphorism that “if a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.”

THE LAW OFFICE OF MICHAEL J. COLLINS

Michael J. Collins

Michael was born and raised in Belleville, Ontario, and received his B.A. (philosophy) from the University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College, in 1992. He received his law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1995 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1998.

He practised intellectual property law for many years, focusing mainly on trademark and copyright matters. In 2014 he was appointed a full-time member of the Social Security Tribunal of Canada, hearing and deciding appeals from administrative decisions of Employment and Social Development Canada. A brief foray into federal politics in his home riding of Hastings-Lennox and Addington made clear another truth expressed by Chesterton: “A nation is not going mad when it does extravagant things, so long as it does them in an extravagant spirit. But whenever we see things done wildly, but taken tamely, then the State is growing insane.”

Returning to private practice, he works in association with Ronald McCloskey.
